I’m Lex—financial advisor, founder of Lunea Wealth Management, proud dog mom to a sassy dachshund named Rosie, and a firm believer that your financial life should reflect the richness of your whole story.
After roughly a decade in the traditional financial world—managing over $500 million in assets at Schwab and working in firms that didn’t always feel aligned—I knew it was time to create something different. Lunea Wealth Management was born out of a deep desire to serve ambitious women, queer folks, and those traditionally left behind in the financial conversation who want more than surface-level advice. My clients want clarity, confidence, and a partnership rooted in intention.
I bring both strategy and lived experience to the table.
I’ve navigated career transitions, divorce, entrepreneurship, and the long road of rebuilding—emotionally and financially. I know what it’s like to start over and still rise. That’s why I’m here: to guide you through life’s transitions with a steady hand, a clear plan, and a belief in your power to shape what’s next.
Lunea is my love letter to the individuals who are ready to own their worth, build legacy, and design lives that feel aligned from the inside out.
Today, I’m back in Cedar Rapids—the community that raised me—investing in the next generation through local organizations like Rotary, and helping others feel seen, supported, and empowered in their money journeys. When I’m not working with clients or speaking at local events, you’ll probably find me walking Rosie, creating Spotify playlists, or curled up with a good book and a glass of wine.

Alexandra “Lex” Mickelson is the founder and CEO of Lunea Wealth Management, a fee-only advisory firm based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A financial advisor with nine years plus of experience - including managing over $500 million in assets at Schwab - Lex created Lunea Wealth to reimagine what wealth management could feel like: intentional, empowering, and deeply personal.
Lunea Wealth was born from Lex’s desire to serve ambitious women, queer individuals, and others often overlooked in traditional finance. Her clients aren’t looking for cookie-cutter advice; they want clarity, confidence, and a partnership rooted in care and strategy.
Lex brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work. Having navigated career transitions, divorce, entrepreneurship, and the long road of rebuilding - financially and emotionally - she understands the courage it takes to start over and rise again. That perspective shapes her approach: guiding clients through life’s transitions with steadiness, insight, and a belief in their power to shape what comes next.
Today, Lex has returned to the Cedar Rapids community that raised her. Beyond her advisory work, she invests in the next generation through local organizations such as Rotary and serves on the Tanager Place's Associate's Board of Directors. Outside the office, she’s a proud dog mom to her spirited dachshund, Rosie, and finds joy in curating Spotify playlists, exploring good books, and enjoying evenings with a glass of wine.

I spent five incredible years performing with a DCI (Drum Corps International) Drum and Bugle Corps and one season competing in WGI (Winter Guard International). Performing has been a huge part of my life, and I’m so passionate about sharing that experience with others.
I played club soccer for over a decade and even kept it going while studying abroad in Rome, Italy during college. After graduation, I joined a co-ed team in Denver—until a surprise kick to the jaw convinced me to retire from the contact sport life. These days, I stick to cheering from the sidelines (with my jaw intact).
Lifelong Pokémon fan over here—Pokémon Go is my go-to (I’m this close to level 40), and I’m all about the Pokémon TCG. Nothing beats connecting with fellow fans who understand the thrill of a shiny catch or a perfect deck. And if you’re wondering, my favorite is Snorlax—strong, unbothered, and always down for a nap? A whole mood.
